Are SharkBite and Apollo interchangeable?

Apollo manufactures both Pex-A and Pex-B. If your supplier is selling Sharkbite fittings, all sharkbite fittings will work on all three types of Pex. I have only seen Apollo expansion fittings and all Pex expansion fittings will only work with Pex-A due to the I.D. If you have Uponor, you have Pex-A tubing.

Can you use SharkBite on PEX B?

SharkBite push-to-connect fittings listed to ASSE 1061 approved for PEX-A, PEX-B and PEX-C pipe.

Is Apollo PEX type A or B?

Apollo offers PEX-A (Expansion PEX) and PEX-B tubing. PEX-A tubing (Expansion PEX) is produced using the Peroxide or Engel method. Molecules of HDPE polymer are cross-linked during the extrusion process. PEX-B tubing is produced using the Silane or moisture-cured method.

Is PEX b better?

Kink-Resistance – PEX-A has the greatest resistance, PEX-B the lowest. You should never install kinked pipe. Bursting Pressure – Always check the tubing for maximum temperature and pressure ratings. Remember, the pressure ratings decrease as the temperature of the water increases.

Are PEX A and PEX B fittings the same?

PEX A uses an expansion-style fitting. These fittings are much larger in diameter the PEX B fittings, and require an expansion tool. Using the expansion tool, you enlarge the pipe and sleeve in order slide in the fitting.

Is SharkBite PEX A or B?

Cross-linking is defined as polyethylene material that has undergone a change in molecular structure using a chemical or a physical process whereby the polymer chains are chemically linked. SharkBite non oxygen barrier pipe is manufacture as PEX-B and SharkBite oxygen barrier pipe is manufactured as PEX-C.

Who makes Apollo PEX?

Aalberts Industries Company

Apollo is owned by Aalberts Industries Company, and specializes in the distribution of PEX tubing, tools, fittings, manifolds, and most importantly their intricate valves.

Which PEX connection is best?

PEX-A, which has the most flexible tubing and best freeze- and kink resistance, is ideal for use with kitchen and bath fixtures. PEX-B is slightly less flexible and less freeze-resistant.

What is the difference between PEX A and PEX B tubing?

Again, the main distinction lies in the manufacturing method, which is what assigns an A, B or C to PEX. PEX A is made using the Peroxide, or Engel, method. PEX B is formed using Silane, or Moisture Cure, method. This is the most common PEX pipe type out there.

Is PEX expansion or crimp better?

PEX crimp equipment is a lot more affordable than the expansion kits. However, despite the pricing and form shortcomings, most plumbers prefer to work with expansion because installation is more efficient. There are fewer leaks, and it also seems to be more durable against extreme colds and frozen pipes, etc.

What is uponor hePEX?

Uponor (Wirsbo) hePEX is heat-transfer tubing with an EVOH oxygen diffusion barrier. The oxygen diffusion barrier meets the requirements of the German DIN Standard 4726. Uponor (Wirsbo) hePEX is compatible with both Uponor’s (Wirsbo) ProPEX fitting connections and QS-style fittings.

Can you use crimp rings on Uponor?

Quote from the video:
Quote from Youtube video: Making a crimp fitting requires the Installer to precisely position a copper ring while carefully using a hand tool to crush the ring around the tubing.

What is the life expectancy of PEX tubing?

Additionally, long-term testing programs on PEX have shown that it has a potential lifespan of more than 100 years. So, while copper systems may have to be re-piped every few years or decades due to corrosion and pinhole leaks, a PEX system can last 10 times longer — or more.

What is the difference between hePEX and Heliopex?

The major difference is that the hePex can have any kinks taken out with a heat gun (and apparently it doesn’t kink as easy as Heliopex) whereas the Heliopex you can’t (although I know an installer that says you can use a heat gun on Heliopex to remove kinks).
