What is audio input?

Audio input usually comes from the built-in mic, an external mic, or an audio interface attached to the device. Audio input can also come from a phone conversation. Sometimes two or more apps might both want to “capture” the same audio input. They may be performing different tasks.

To use your headphones as a mic plug your headphones into the mic input of the mixer. Make sure the mic levels are turned all the way down, talk into the mic and bring up the levels as needed. If the mixer/controller has EQ controls turn down the lows to reduce the boominess of your voice and increase the highs.

Can I use mic port as audio out?

No you cannot use the microphone jack to get audio on your headphones. That will require wires on your mobo to be rewired which is not quite realistic or convenient. Buy a new jack and solder your headphones.
