Can a sink drain go sideways?





This shouldn’t be an issue. With the standard P-trap, you can probably turn it so that it goes toward the side instead of towards the wall to get your 9″. The important rule of drainage is that it always needs to slope down (other than the traps at each fixture) and that you can’t get too far from the vent.

Can drain pipe horizontal?

The only way I can get a P trap to fit under the tub is to use a flexible plastic one and angle it sideways (horizontally) about 45 degrees. The inlet and outlet is essentially at the same height as if it were installed the regular way except they are slanted.
