How does an AC line splitter work?

The Line Splitter provides a means to cleanly “open” a standard 120V AC line cord in order to make clamp type current measurements. When connected between the 120V AC wall outlet and the device under test, a clamp meter can then be clamped around one of the two test openings in the Splitter.

How does the Klein line splitter work?





The Klein Tools 69409 Line Splitter separates hot from neutral and ground wires on standard 120-Volt outlets so that current measurements can be made with a current clamp. Without the Line Splitter, the current clamp measures the load current going in both directions, effectively cancelling the measurement.

How do you use an amp splitter?
