GREAT STUFF™ Fireblock Insulating Foam Sealant is a minimal expansion polyurethane insulating foam sealant that fills, seals and insulates gaps up to ½ inch. It is specifically designed to impede the spread of fire and smoke through service penetrations.

Can I use great stuff around gas line?

Quote from the video:
Quote from Youtube video: And make sure the room is properly ventilated and do turn off your pilot lights and extinguish any open flames. Now when it comes to applying the great stuff just point the strong to the opening.

Is Great Stuff foam fire resistant?

Great Stuff™ Fireblock Insulating Foam Sealant can help save much more than energy costs. 1 Designed for residential construction, it provides an easy and effective way to maintain the continuity of an approved fire block material.

Is great stuff flammable after it dries?

CAUTION: When cured, these products are combustible and will burn if exposed to open flame or sparks from high-energy sources. Do not expose to temperatures above 240ºF (116ºC).

Is great stuff fire rated?

FIRE-RATED: GREAT STUFF PRO has been evaluated by ASTM E 814* in wood frame pipe penetrations. Conforms to the ASTM C557-93, D6464, CA25-4, and is UL Class 1 (Flame spread of 15, smoke of 20). Fills, seals and insulates gaps up to three inches.

Can you spray foam a gas line?

For most foam sprayed at 1 inch thick, it will take between 5-10 minutes. Thicker applications may take longer for the heat to dissipate. You should not spray foam over foam until the heat within the foam is going down. Installing foam over foam that is still hot can affect its physical properties as well.

Can I use Great Stuff around pipes?

Don’t use spray foam such as Great Stuff around heat sources: it will melt and produce toxic fumes. BTW, the reason the holes are so big is probably because there used to be three-inch pipes there.

Is foam sealant flammable?

Like many materials found in a home or building, spray foam can ignite and burn if exposed to a sufficient heat source. Foam insulation should be considered combustible and handled accordingly.

Can expanding foam catch fire?

The propellant gas used to dispense the foam (methylene-diphenyl-diisocyanate 4,4) is highly flammable. The gas is emitted from the foam as it expands and dries out. It is heavier than air, sinks and forms an invisible cloud. If an ignition source is present, the gas can catch fire, potentially with explosive force.

What temperature can great stuff withstand?

The maximum use temperature for all Great Stuff™ products is 240°F, it is also combustible and will burn if exposed to temperatures above 240°F (116°C).

Is foam sealant heat-resistant?

3M Fire Block Foam FB-Foam is a fire block and draft stop used to help seal, fill, insulate and bond for non-rated residential and commercial construction. This foam-in-place fire block is heat-resistant (up to 240 degree F/115 degree C) and meets ASTM E 84 (mod) Class 1 for smoke spread and flame development.

Is spray sealant flammable?

Yes, spray foam — like all foam plastic materials — is flammable. However (and here is where that fire rating comes in), a “class 1 hour fire rating” means that the material can resist exposure to a standardized fire for one hour.

What temperature does spray foam ignite?

700°F.

Even though it’s heavily treated with fire-retardant chemicals prior to installation, it is a recognized fire hazard by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Spray foam insulation will ignite at 700°F.

Is foam pipe insulation flammable?

The round foam pipe insulation with a slit on one side that is used most often in residential applications is polyethylene or neoprene, both of which are classified as combustible.

What is fire rated expanding foam?

Fire rated expanding foam can be used as an efficient seal against smoke and gas, providing up to 240 minutes fire rating. As well as being useful due to its excellent filling characteristics, fire rated foam has high thermal properties and provides acoustic insulation.

Where should you not use expanding foam?

When NOT to Use Spray Foam Insulation

  1. For areas that are too close to electrical boxes:
  2. For areas too close to ceiling light boxes:
  3. Open-cell spray foam on your roof:
  4. For closed-cavity spaces:
  5. If you have a history of skin, respiratory, or asthma problems:

Can you use expanding foam around pipes?

Moisture curing, polyurethane expanding foam, specifically developed for filling gaps around pipes and other plumbing applications. Adheres to most sanitary and plumbing materials; PVC, CPVC, copper, cast iron, chromed copper and chromed brass. Resistant to water, heat and ageing.

How long does spray foam insulation off gas?

24 to 72 hours

Different manufacturers and installers of spray foam will insist that occupants vacate their homes – anywhere from 24 to 72 hours are the recommendations we’ve seen – to allow the foam to fully cure and off-gas.
