What is considered dirty power?

“Dirty power” is an abnormality in the power quality that is being delivered to a system. These abnormalities can include low power factor, voltage variations, frequency variations, and surges. All electrical systems are based on a supply of power at a certain voltage and frequency.

Does a transformer clean power?

In medical applications — especially safety-critical patient connected devices — NBT transformers with electrostatic shields provide clean power with low leakage currents. In large power applications, NBT can remove the higher harmonics with cutoff frequencies starting from 800 Hz.

Can dirty power damage electronics?

– Every time one of these devices turns on or off it causes the line voltage to fluctuate inducing transient power spikes. If these spikes are large enough, they will damage electronic equipment instantly.

How do you clean a dirty power supply?

Use a 12-oz. can of compressed air with a nozzle to blow dust and dirt off the power supply.
