The traditional prepasted wallpaper is a smooth paper product that has a wallpaper past coating on it’s backing (aka prepasted). This means that all you need to do is soak the wallpaper in water to active the past which glues the wallpaper to your wall.

Can you use wallpaper glue on Prepasted wallpaper?





If the wallpaper is prepasted then you won’t have to worry about glue. Just get a spray bottle and wet the back. If the wallpaper is unpasted then you, or your installer, will need to purchase glue.

What do you do if your wallpaper won’t stick?

First, sand down the wall under the areas where the wallpaper isn’t sticking. Brush off the dust and vacuum it up. Pieces of dust will also interfere with the adhesion process. Use a spray bottle and dampen the underside of the wallpaper.

Can you spray water on Prepasted wallpaper?

The glue becomes active and sticky when wet. Many online tutorials recommend using a water tray for hanging prepasted papers, but I prefer to use a spray bottle of water. Any old spray bottle will work. Just fill her up with water, lay your cut panel down over your dropcloth and spray generously.

Back to the wallpaper. Once you solve the moisture issue, fixing the wallpaper with glue or Elmer’s is an easy call…get the wallpaper adhesive. As a painter, I’ve seen all kinds of things used to re-seam wallpaper; super glue, Elmer’s, Gorilla glue, Liquid Nails, caulk, and even double-sided tape.

Is Prepasted wallpaper good?

It is still beautiful, but if you want the highest quality artwork, choose the prepasted option. Kids love to peel this off the walls, so if you have kids, this is a warning! Prepasted might be better for you. Not suitable for bathrooms with any moisture.

Will spray adhesive work on wallpaper?

Using spray adhesive, affix the wallpaper sheets to the foam piece by spraying the back of the wallpaper and then carefully smoothing it onto the foam backing. We found that wallpaper glue didn’t work as well with this material and spray adhesive was much better and easier to work with.

Why does my wallpaper keep peeling off?



Both pre-pasted and traditional wallpaper may begin to peel in the places where two strips meet. With pre-pasted paper, the adhesive may not have been fully applied during manufacture. Seams may also become loose if too much paste was squeezed out of the seam during installation.
