Many plasterers would most likely tell you to wait 3-7 days prior to painting new plaster.
How long does it take plaster to fully cure?
For entire walls, plaster on plasterboard will dry quite quickly and you should wait around 10-14 days before applying a mist coat. For a wall with two or three layers of plaster (often referred to as backing plaster), you should wait around 14-21 days.

It may even feel dry enough to sand. But unless you’re working with the chemical-hardening stuff (that has a much shorter curing window of 20, 45, or 90 minutes), you need to wait 24 hours before applying a second coat.
Can u sleep in a room that’s just been plastered?
You do not need to worry about the smell, its the condensation whilst drying can be a problem making everything feel damp. I would give each room at least 1 day to partially dry before moving back.
Should you let plaster dry naturally?
