How do I know if my hinge pin is removable?

Resolution: The NRP option will be identified by a small hole with a set screw on the side of the knuckle. The screw will be hidden when the door is closed. If there is no hole with a set screw, then the pin can be removed.

Do all hinges have removable pins?





Most all the hinges come standard with removable pins. Non removable pin hinges are available with almost any Emtek or PHG hinge upon request. They do cost a few dollars more, but we can easily order them for you if you need.

How do you remove hinge pins with caps on both ends?

Some hingesdo come with a decorative bottom cap on the bottom. This does come off easily with a flat head screw driver and a hammer. Or you can use the edge of the Pin Popper tool with a hammer to knock it off as well. Once the cap is off, just knock out the pin with the Pin Popper tool.

To make this job go smoothly, first close and latch the door. Then remove the hinge pins by tapping on the bottom of the hinge pin with a nail (Photo 1). Don’t try to drive the pins all the way out with the nail—you might damage the trim with the hammer.
