Is ecobee compatible with zoned system?

Zoned Systems. ecobee thermostats are compatible with zoned HVAC systems. You do not need to do anything special to setup ecobee with a zoned system and you don’t need to setup a zone controller as an accessory on your ecobee. Just follow the guided setup as if you don’t have zone controllers.

Does R go to RC or RH ecobee?

If you only have one R wire (That includes R, Rc, and Rh), you’ll insert it into the Rc terminal on your ecobee. With dual-transformer systems you’ll have two R wires—one from the cooling transformer (Rc) and one from the heating transformer (Rh). Learn how to install an ecobee thermostat in a dual-transformer system.

Does ecobee work with multiple zones?

The Ecobee thermostat can be used to create up to 16 different zones to control your home’s temperature. This means that up to 16 different rooms on the same Wifi network can all be managed straight from your phone. The Ecboee Smart Sensor/Room Sensor can connect up to 32 devices to your Ecobee thermostat.

What is ZC and ZR terminals?

When an aquastat has the ZC and ZR terminals, the ZC is connected to the low temperature switch of the aquastat and to the ZC terminal of the Taco control. The ZR is connected to the ZR. These will be 120 Volt wiring.

How does smart thermostat work with multiple zones?

When multiple thermostats control one system, the house is divided into zones using dampers in the ductwork throughout the house. When one zone needs heating or cooling, the damper for the ductwork in that zone opens, guiding the warm or cool air to that zone.

How do you install a multi zone thermostat?

It can be done in three simple steps:

  1. Replace your existing thermostat with a smart multi zone thermostat (a thermostat with remote sensors).
  2. Purchase external sensors for each room and connect them to your smart thermostat via the app.
  3. Place a sensor in each room you’d like to control as a separate zone.

Can ecobee control zone dampers?

ecobee works with zoned heating and cooling styles, those with multiple furnaces, and those with dampers. If your system works with multiple furnaces, you most likely do not have a zone control board.

Can one thermostat control two zones?

With a smart thermostat for multiple zones, you can set up multiple different zones around your house. Following that, you can use your smartphone app or remote control to set different temperatures for all different rooms. That means everyone can have their way and no one needs to compromise.

How many zones can a thermostat control?

The Nest Thermostat controls a single zone per device; however, a single home can support up to 20 individual thermostats. Additionally, there are some alternatives should you choose to monitor the temperature of multiple areas with a single device.

How do you wire a Honeywell zone valve?

Honeywell Zone Valve Wiring Wire Colors

Yellow wire connections at the zone valve: the pair of yellow wires on a zone valve are the zone valve motor actuator control. One yellow wire connects to the C terminal on the low voltage transformer. The second yellow wire connects to a “heat on” wire from the room thermostat.

How do I connect my thermostat to my circulator pump?

Where do thermostat wires go?

Thermostat Wiring Tips

The W wire is connected to your heating system. If your thermostat controls your heat, you will have a white wire. The Y wire is yellow and connects to your air conditioning compressor. The G wire is green and connects to the fan.

Do circulator pumps run all the time?

The effects of an always-on circulator assembly installation are more even heat and in some cases perhaps improved freeze-resistance for the heating system piping. So depending on where you live and how your heating system is designed and controlled, it may be normal for the circulator pump(s) to run continuously.

Potential consequences of improper installation could include: Electric shock. Blowing a circuit breaker. Damaging the thermostat unit, the electrical system or even the AC/furnace unit itself.

Do I need a jumper from R to RC?

If you have a wire in the R terminal, and another wire (not a jumper) in the RC terminal, you will not need to connect the R and RC terminals. See our Basic Wiring article for more info here.

What if there is no C-wire for thermostat?

If your current thermostat didn’t need a C-wire, it (or a wire that can be used as a C-wire) might be rolled up inside the wall. This is more likely to be true if you see all the other color wires present. Line voltage thermsotat scenario: you have just two wires (white and red, probably), and they’re thick.

Does ecobee require C wire?

Even though Ecobee does not require a c-wire, you still need to have a 4-wire thermostat cable because they require a power extender kit. You will connect the wires from your furnace to the power extender kit and then to the thermostat.

Can I use the G wire for the C wire?

If there is no hidden C-wire, you can use a G-wire instead. However, you will not be able to use your fan independently when the heating or cooling isn’t running. Also, many HVAC systems are incompatible with this solution, including: HVAC systems using electric heat.
