Why can ser cable be run in conduit?
Buried cable, in or out of conduit, must be rated for “wet location”. That’s the problem with SER, it’s not rated for “wet”. Regardless of what your friend did, use the correct cable. His installation is incorrect in spite of being “advised” by an “electrician”.
