Can cement board be left out on the rain?

Most concrete backer-boards on the market today are not water-resistant, but all are waterproof. Since many people confuse the terms, it is a common misconception that this is the best material for use inside a shower or tub area.

Can cement board be stored outside?





The panels must always be stored raised off the ground with supports at a maximum of 19”, & always stacked with the edges directly over each other. The accessories should also be protected against dirt & precipitation.

Can durock be left in the rain?

If waterproofing is desired, apply a waterproofing membrane such as USG Durock Waterproofing Membrane or USG Durock™ Liquid Waterproofing and Crack Isolation Membrane over the cement board.

Does cement board get mold?
