What type of screws to use for strapping?

General rule of thumb would be to have the screw long enough to penetrate the second item as much as the thickness of the initial one but not so long that it will protrude from the back side of the second piece. So your straps are 3/4″ thick so the screws should be at minimum 1-1/2″.

Should strapping be nailed or screwed?
