The surface of the Fire Tape is treated with silicone and mud or paint will not adhere to it. If you need to disguise the color of the Fire Tape on exposed walls, we recommend using a primer called Zinsser, Bulls Eye Odorless to coat over it. Add some of the primer to a paint tray and dip a paintbrush into it. Scrape off the excess primer and apply a thin layer over the joint compound covering the drywall tape. Add enough primer to completely cover the tape and then wait for it to fully dry.

Is paper tape or mesh tape better for drywall?
