What is a Murphy bar?

A Murphy Bar is a wood box/cabinet attached to an interior or exterior wall with a front panel that folds open to form a shelf or small countertop, typically used to serve alcohol-based beverages.

Why is it called a Murphy bar?





This murphy bar was inspired by the murphy desk designed by the talented duo of Shanty 2 Chic. I made it a taller, changed some of the board widths, and did my shelves differently, to accommodate drinks, cups, cutting boards, and added the sides on the top shelf for plants.
